Scrapbooks By Design Team Card With Newton’s Nook & Lawn Fawn Sequin Shaker Card
Hi Everyone!
I am happy to announce that I am the newest member of the Scrapbooks By Design team! For my first design team post, I created a sequin shaker card using Newton’s Nook stamp set with some Lawn Fawn patterned paper and dies.
I love the look of shaker cards, and I found the perfect way to get the sequins to sit correctly and not get stuck was to use ‘fun foam’ to pop up the window instead of pop dots or foam tape. I used to have trouble with the sequins getting stuck in the corners when I used pop dots or tape – I find those work best for square or rectangle sequin window shakers.
The background I created using a watercolor brush and Lawn Fawn’s Wild Rose ink to match the patterned paper I chose from the 6×6 Let’s Polka Mon Amie paper pad.
I hope you like the card – I am always happy to share techniques or measurements, just leave a comment. Each and every comment is welcome and appreciated!
Here are the supplies used to make this adorable card:
- Spectrum Noir Markers:
- BT1, BT2, BT4, PP1, Blender
- Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers Warm Grey’s: BG1, BG2, BG4
- Newton’s Nook
- Newton Dreams of Paris
- Lawn Fawn
- Let’s Polka Mon Amie 6×6 Petite Paper Pack
- Scripty Love word die
- Small Stitched Rectangles Dies
- Memento Tuxedo Black Ink
Lawn Fawn Gleeful Gardens with Spectrum Noir Markers
The latest from the Lawn Fawn release, Gleeful Gardens goes so well with the new Gingham Backdrops stamp set. It took me a few tries to get the gingham to stamp in alignment all the way across, so I just fudged it and cut a strip of the best stamped part 😛 That worked out well in the long run as it inspired me to come up with this card. The snail is super cute and I love how the daisy flower just automatically inspires sunshiny feelings!
All colored with Spectrum Noir markers this card took less than 20 minutes from start to finish to make – so I suspect I will be making a few more to keep on hand.
Spectrum Noir Colors Used:
Daisy: CT1, CT2, GB4, IG2, Blender
Stem: LG2, LG3
Tall Grass: LG2, LG3, CG4, JG2
Snail: EB2, GB8, GB10
Shell: FS9, OR1, OR2
Flirty Frame: TB1, Blender

Stampin Up Blendabilities: Blended Bloom with Calypso Coral
Once I got started coloring with my new markers I had to try every color I had! This card is made I made with the Blended Bloom image I colored using the Blendabilities markers in the Calypso Coral. I have said it before, but I love how these markers come in sets of 3, taking the guess work out of finding the right colors to make a proper gradient blend. One of hte other really cool benefits of these alcohol markers is that you can color on jsut about anything and the color does not come off! For this project, I used regular clear rhinestones and colored them with the lightest pumpkin pie blendability marker giving them that nice gold tint.
The top background is stamped in Gold metallic ink using the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set – this is one of my go to stamp sets because it is so flexible and makes great backgrounds.

Karma Cards: Send A Smile 4 Kids
As a result, SAS4Kids has been contacted by many of those wonderful card makers who have been donating to OWH and are now looking for another cause they can donate to. We are thrilled, of course, and will happily accept more cards for our kids. But what we really need now is more children’s hospitals to donate our cards to.
We would love to help more kids, but what is needed to do that is some more volunteers who are willing to accept sent packages of cards for kids, sort and label them, and bring or send them to a children’s hospital or two close by where you live. We have the Midwest covered, but would love a site in the East, West and/or Southern U.S. and even some sites overseas. If you are from Canada, please contact our Canadian sister blog via the side blog badge to see if they have any need for additional sites or volunteers.
If you think you might like to volunteer to help, your first step would be to contact SAS4Kids via the Contact Feature on the side of the blog. If no one else has volunteered in your part of the country (or world), I would approve you to approach children’s hospitals close to you to see if they would like to receive cards for their patients. Please read all the pages on the top of the blog and refer the hospital contacts to our blog as well. Feel free to copy and paste any info you want to share. I work with the Child Life or Volunteer Coordinators in the hospitals we currently serve, so that is maybe a place to start when contacting the hospitals.
We truly appreciate all the cards we receive for our kids inpatient in children’s hospitals, and will continue to distribute all the cards we receive. Our current needs are mostly fall and winter holiday cards and birthday and thank you cards. Keep in mind the older kids when designing cards too- both boys and girls.

- Creating & donating cards for the kids
- Work with SS4K to find more hospitals to participate in this great cause
