PinkFresh Studio Berries & Blossoms Mini Slimline Card

These washi panels really are a crafting game changer! Instead of buying a single ephemera pack that you can only get a set amount of cards from, these washi panels really give you a bang for your buck!

Using this Berries & Blossoms PinkFresh Studio washi panel and coordinating die, I always layer the washi onto 100lb card stock to give my images more strength for layering.

The hot foiled the sentiment was perfect for this card as it tied in the gold accents on the die cut images.

Simon Says Stamp Squirrel Nutty About You Thank You Card

Simon Says Stamp monthly card kits are always fun, but as an avid crafter I find I already have a lot of the supplies in the kit, so I usually just order the kit items a la carte. Except October’s kit. I needed EVERYTHING in that kit!! From the Lawn Fawn Perfectly Plaid fall 6×6 paper, to the gorgeous audrey blue & burnt orange card stock, I needed it ALL!!

I ordered the kit and had a blast re-creating the projects that the design team had created from the inspiration sheet that is included with the kit.
This card however, I made on my own for my osteo path who has helped me tremendously! I am forever grateful to her and wanted to send her a thank you note to let her know.

This card uses the audrey blue card stock for my base color to punch it up a bit and add some color to off set all the brown.  I inked up my die cut Lawn Fawn stitched leaves with distress inks to give them a bit of dimension and really help the stitching pop as well. For the stitching detail around the card I used a dark brown marker rather than black – it tied everything together nicely and kept it a CAS card as I was intending.

I loved how this card turned out, and the best part is it would be easy to mass produce if you needed a lot of thank you cards too.

Thanks for stopping by & checking out my project – your comments & feedback are always welcome & appreciated!

Lawn Fawn Pillow Box Die – Halloween & Thanks(giving)

Lawn Fawn’s pillow box die has now become my go to die for anything party favor, candy box, or even a gift card or a coffee card – it’s the perfect size to fit any standard sized gift card as a matter of fact. I just LOVE this pillow box.  Lawn Fawn never disappoints, and this one really hit it out of the park for me!

The die takes less than one half of a 12×12 sheet of cardstock, and create score lines that make the box ridiculously easy to assemble.  One strip of tape or Tombow and that`s seriously it.  I love how the top of the pillow box opening has a little notch in the underside flap to make it easy to open.  And the semi-circle scored perforations make it super easy to fold the tabs down when you’re ready to close it too.

With fall / autumn quickly approaching – and people are now thinking about pumpkin spice lattes ( 😛 ) I had so many ideas on hwo to use this pillow box die!

I made two Halloween party favors, or candy boxes; and one fall themed pillow box that could be equally as good for either a thanksgiving hostess gift, or just a thank you gift with a Starbucks coffee card inside!

Here are my projects: two Halloween party favors or candy boxes, and one that could double for either a Thanksgiving hostess gift, or just a Thank You gift with either candy, a gift card, jewelry, you name it! The sky`s the limit with this adorably perfect pillow box.

This first box I wanted to try and make something that would be easy to replicate – for a classroom treat, or party favor.  Using the Trick or Treat stamp set, I stamped out the candy corn in Lawn Fawn’s new Pumpkin Spice ink, and filled in the color with my Spectrum Noir markers (OR3 & CT2).  The bat was stamped in Black Licorice Lawn Fawn ink and die cut wit the newly released coordinating dies.  For the focal sentiment, I stamped it in the new Sugar Plum ink, and die cut it out with Lawn Fawn’s stitched circles.  I punched a small hole in the circle, popped up both my little candy corn and my bat, and tied it closed with the Lawn Fawn Spooky twine.  Their twine is awesome because it’s made from hemp, making it thicker than regular bakers twine.  What does that mean? That makes bows easier to tie, and they will stay put after you have positioned them! (yay!)

For my second Halloween box, I stamped out my own backround paper using the Trick or Treat stamp set in Lawn Fawn’s new Doe ink.  The belly band for the pillow box I cut a 2″ wide strip from the new Let’s Polka In The Dark mini 6×6 pad.  From the same pad, I pulled out a witches brew sheet and die cut circle for my racoon that was stamped from the Holiday Party Animal set.

This box was created with fall / autumn in mind – but I wanted to make it versatile so that it could be either Thanksgiving OR just a regular Thank You gift box.  Using the wood grain’s backdrops set I stamped the entire pillow box after I die cut it in Doe ink.  The new Mini Stitched Leaves came in handy as accents for my Fox (from Party Animals) and my Bear (from Love You S’more).  Die cutting each leaf in a vanilla card stock, I blended distress inks onto each leave to create color and really bring out the stitching.  The Thanks sentiment was also from the wood grain backdrops set as well.  Finished off with Lawn Fawn’s Gold Sparkle twine I was super happy with the finished project!

Stampin Up: Speech Bubble Dies & Retro Fresh Washi

Hiya Stampers,

Just a quick post today to share a card I made for Eric’s Grandmother who spoiled us with cake & presents on our most recent visit.  I love spending time with family  ❤

They have a budgie bird named Pom Pom, so I wanted to incorporate a bird in the card somehow… He is bright colors so I wanted to make sure the card reflected that as well.

Here is what I came up with:

Stampin Up retro fresh washi tape Merci / Thank You card by Montreal Demonstrator Wendie Bee

Stampin Up retro fresh washi tape Merci / Thank You card by Montreal Demonstrator Wendie Bee

Stampin Up’s retro fresh washi tape made this card ridiculously easy & quick to make on the fly (last minute).  The only cutting of paper was the card base and first layer… the tape I just pulled off a piece and layered each design onto the card.  I used markers to clor the toucan bird, and fussy cut him out and adhering him using dimensionals

Here’s a really neat trick:  Here is how I created a layered effect for the speech bubble :

  1. Die cut bottom layer of speech bubble in solid colored card stock.
  2. Using the same die, I placed it on white card stock then with a pencil, traced the shaoe on the INSIDE of the die.
  3. With the “Remerciements” stamp set, I used the small ‘merci’ stamp, inked in tangerine tango, coastal cabana, soft suede & so saffron
  4. Finally, I fussy cut along my pencil lines and popped up the cut out piece using dimensionals

Thanks for stopping by. And don’t forget – your comments are always welcome and appreciated!!

Swallowtail Butterfly Card Set

Stampin Up Swallowtail card set

Stampin Up Swallowtail card set

A friend helped me get some info that I needed recently & I wanted to make her a thank you card.  I had seen a similar card to my night of navy version somewhere in my meandering, and I thought I would see what other color options worked with this design.

Here is what I used for these Swallowtail stamped card sets:

STAMPS:

  • Swallowtail stamp (PG 71, current Stampin Up Catalog)
  • En Francais background stamp (Current Stampin Up catalog)
  • Tiny tags (retired)

COLOR:

  • Crumb cake (background ink & cardstock base)
  • Night of Navy
  • Island Indigo
  • Bravo Burgundy

Just a quick post today to share with you all what I have been up to this gloriously sunny weekend.

Until next time stampers!

** Love these cards but don’t have the time to make them yourself?  All of my work is available for purchase in my Etsy store.  **

Manly Masculine All Occasion Cards Tips

Masculine or manly card are always so difficult to come up with.  Most stamps that are ‘masculine’ are very traditional – so I found I had to think outside the box when coming up with masculine cards.

Tips on making a card masculine:

  1. Use masculine colors:  this includes ALL neutrals as base colors.  Add splashes of regals for accent colors.
  2. Keep layouts simple.  WE (ladies) love ribbon, bling and sparkles… I know that men may not appreciate embellishments as much as we do.  SO, if you’re going to add embellishments to a masculine card –
    1. use base metal colored brads
    2. making knots with your ribbon, rather than bows
    3. use wood buttons

I have the best boyfriend in the world.  He is SOOO supportive of me with my Stampin Up endeavors and is always ready to help out.  For my last “Boys & Babies” card workshop, he sat at the table with me and punched 50 little circles for the wheels on the baby pram cards, then put the right number of punched out pieces in each card kit – he even knew how to punch and optimize the paper so there was no waste.  Whaddda sweetie!!

So to thank him I made him this card.  I LOVE the new ‘smoky slate’ grey from Stampin up – I used a retired background stamp, stamped in smoky slate ink on whisper white & smoky slate card stock.
