Stampin Up Petite Petals in my pocket

A family friend sent me this denim pocket stamp to cheer me up. I thought it would pair perfectly with Stampin Up’s new Petite Petals stamp & punch set. I also used the teeny tiny flower punch and the stamp from the Sale-A-Bration set. The banner and sentiment is from Lawn Fawn.

Here is the card I made with it & sent her to say thank you:

Valentine’s Day: Squirrels In Love

Just a quick post today to show you a card I made for Eric – we have an inside joke about squirrels, and since Stampin Up doesn’t have any squirrel stamps I went to my local scrapbook store & got this set from Kaiser Craft

A special thanks to Cee Cee for the inspiration for this card – I pretty much cased the entire thing, but just changed the paper & colors to fit with the supplies I had on hand.

Stampin Up: Speech Bubble Dies & Retro Fresh Washi

Hiya Stampers,

Just a quick post today to share a card I made for Eric’s Grandmother who spoiled us with cake & presents on our most recent visit.  I love spending time with family  ❤

They have a budgie bird named Pom Pom, so I wanted to incorporate a bird in the card somehow… He is bright colors so I wanted to make sure the card reflected that as well.

Here is what I came up with:

Stampin Up retro fresh washi tape Merci / Thank You card by Montreal Demonstrator Wendie Bee Stampin Up retro fresh washi tape Merci / Thank You card by Montreal Demonstrator Wendie Bee

Stampin Up’s retro fresh washi tape made this card ridiculously easy & quick to make on the fly (last minute).  The only cutting of paper was the card base and first layer… the tape I just pulled off a piece and layered each design onto the card.  I used markers to clor the toucan bird, and fussy cut him out and adhering him using dimensionals

Here’s a really neat trick:  Here is how I created a layered effect for the speech bubble :

  1. Die cut bottom layer of speech bubble in solid colored card stock.
  2. Using the same die, I placed it on white card stock then with a pencil, traced the shaoe on the INSIDE of the die.
  3. With the “Remerciements” stamp set, I used the small ‘merci’ stamp, inked in tangerine tango, coastal cabana, soft suede & so saffron
  4. Finally, I fussy cut along my pencil lines and popped up the cut out piece using dimensionals

Thanks for stopping by. And don’t forget – your comments are always welcome and appreciated!!

Stampin Up Watercolor Technique

It’s a balmy -1 in Montreal today – I’m sure people were tempted to go out in shorts!! It’s been so cold here that -1 seems like spring weather 😛

I have been really loving the new trend of water color that has been making a strong come back in the crafting community.  Stampin Up has a beautiful new collection of watercolor inspired DSP (“designer series paper”), which inspired me to make this card, which will be featured as a project at my next workshop

I used my water brush along with ink pads and watercolor paper to create the middle panel.  THe base is crumb cake and the stamp is one of our great photopolymer sets “Another Thank You”

The sun is shining in Montreal today, but it’s still a frost MINUS 19!!  Yikes.  I miss summer  😛  Which is where I got the inspiration for this card.  Created for a birthday card challenge, using Stampin Up colors Chocolate Chip and Pistachio Pudding. The name of the colors inspire the ice cream theme, and I wanted to create something fun – this is what I came up with:

Masculine Valentine’s Day Card Workshop Reveal

Hiya Stampers!! It is still FREEZING in Montreal.  Like gross cold.  Which, as always, gives me a great excuse to not have to go out, which means I can play in my craft room!! Yay!  I just moved to Montreal on October, and everyone tells me that this is an unusually cold winter.  Like that makes me feel much better – it was TWENTY degree difference from back home (Vancouver) to here last week.  o_O

So, here is a sneak peek at one of the cards that we will be making in the Valentine’s Day workshop this month using the new “Just Sayin” stamp and die bundle that Stampin Up just released in their new Occasions catalog last week.

Well, it’s -19 in Montreal today.  Yep. MINUS NINETEEN!!  Which gives me the perfect reason to not go out, and stay in my craft room all day!!!

To celebrate the release of the new catalog, each attendee will receive a free copy of the new catalog and a FREE GOODIE BAG just for attending!

Here is one of the cards that we will be making for the Valentine’s Day workshop:

Montreal Card Workshop: Valentines' Day project #1 Montreal Card Workshop: Valentines’ Day project #1

We will be using the limited edition “Follow My Heart” stamp set for this workshop – there is something romantic about the Eiffel Tower is there?!  *sigh*  And being in the French province of Canada, I thought this stamp set was very apropos this year.

Be sure to register for this card making workshop if you are in the Montreal area – the class fee is only $15.

Until next time stampers!!

Card Making Workshop: For The Birds

Using the owl punch from Stampin Up, this workshop will feature three different cards using one punch. I love this punch – it is so versatile that it was the very first item I bought when I started out!

Here is one of the three card projects we will be making.  I made this card a while ago and the blog post I wrote about it has gotten so much positive feedback that I thought I would include it as a workshop project!  There will also be a Birthday themed card and a wedding themed card using the owl punch as well.  Curious to know how you can use the owl punch to make these?  Register to the workshop and find out  😛

This class is suitable for all levels of crafting experience. All instruction will be done in English, however some stamps and catalogs may be available in French.

My workshops are located in the heart of Montreal in the Notre Dame De Graces (NDG) area.  I am easily accessible by transit and driving (just off the 20 or 15 / Decarie)

Click here to register or call me at 514-482-8543 7 days a week, from 9AM – 8PM EST

Stampin Up: Expressions & Circle Flip Card Thinlits Holiday Workshop

Every time a new Stampin Up catalog is released, I do a special workshop for my group to showcase some of the new items being released.

For each catalog release party, I always give a little gift as a thank you to my group as well.  Here is what I gave them for the Holiday Catalog 2013 release party:

Image

They got a Holiday Catalog, with a wish list stamped from the demonstrator business set, which I attached using the paper clips.  Recognize those paper clips?  That’s right! They are the same ones featured in the annual catalog!

For the thank you gift boxes, I included: one incentive stamp from the “best card ever” stamp set – available ONLY from a demonstrator, a package of Twitterpatted buttons, and two milk chocolate scissors which I made myself using Callebaut chocolate and molds I got from my local (and VERY awesome) confectionery genius Charlie’s Chocolate Factory

The take out  boxes I use for my jewelry making business Miss Kitty Creations.  I purchased them from Creative Packaging and I knew they would be a perfect fit for all the goodies I wanted to include.

We did three projects.  Here are two of the three.  This is the first one we made:

Stampin Up Expressions Love Thinlit card using simply pressed clay rose and buttons in Cherry Cobbler

Stampin Up Expressions Love Thinlit card using simply pressed clay rose and buttons in Cherry Cobbler

I cannot say enough about the Simply Pressed clay & molds!  Both the button and the rose were made using the Cherry Cobbler reinker and the clay.  While I LOVE the buttons in the current catalog, they can get quite costly if you need many at one time.  I bought the clay MONTHS ago when it was first released and I still have more than a third of the bag left.  I estimate that I have made at least 60 various pieces (if not more) with the molds, and they use next to NO ink from your reinker bottle.  Even the regals / dark colors which require more ink to get a perfect color match, you barely make a fraction of a dent out of the bottle.  They really are great!

Here is a tip that you MUST use when using these thinlits:  put wax paper between your card stock and the die each time you

cut with them.  You will have no problem getting the card stock die cut piece out, and it ensures you have a nice clean cut with no rough edges.

Here is the second card using the Stampin Up circle thinlit flip it die card that we made

Stampin Up Open Sea Circle Thinlit swing flip it card

I saw a card similar to this on Pinterest and I knew I had to make one in a workshop!  It was a little more intricate that I expected, but when the group was done they knew why it was worth the work!

If you are located in Canada and would like to order this circle thinlit die, or anything else from Stampin Up I will include the tutorial on how to make this card for free with your order!
