Stampin Up Challenge Creation: Ice Cream Circle Flip Framelit

The sun is shining in Montreal today, but it’s still a frost MINUS 19!!  Yikes.  I miss summer  πŸ˜›  Which is where I got the inspiration for this card.  Created for a birthday card challenge, using Stampin Up colors Chocolate Chip and Pistachio Pudding. The name of the colors inspire the ice cream theme, and I wanted to create something fun – this is what I came up with:

Masculine Valentine’s Day Card Workshop Reveal

Hiya Stampers!! It is still FREEZING in Montreal.  Like gross cold.  Which, as always, gives me a great excuse to not have to go out, which means I can play in my craft room!! Yay!  I just moved to Montreal on October, and everyone tells me that this is an unusually cold winter.  Like that makes me feel much better – it was TWENTY degree difference from back home (Vancouver) to here last week.  o_O

So, here is a sneak peek at one of the cards that we will be making in the Valentine’s Day workshop this month using the new “Just Sayin” stamp and die bundle that Stampin Up just released in their new Occasions catalog last week.

Card Making Workshop: For The Birds

Using the owl punch from Stampin Up, this workshop will feature three different cards using one punch. I love this punch – it is so versatile that it was the very first item I bought when I started out!

Here is one of the three card projects we will be making.  I made this card a while ago and the blog post I wrote about it has gotten so much positive feedback that I thought I would include it as a workshop project!  There will also be a Birthday themed card and a wedding themed card using the owl punch as well.  Curious to know how you can use the owl punch to make these?  Register to the workshop and find out  πŸ˜›

This class is suitable for all levels of crafting experience. All instruction will be done in English, however some stamps and catalogs may be available in French.

My workshops are located in the heart of Montreal in the Notre Dame De Graces (NDG) area.  I am easily accessible by transit and driving (just off the 20 or 15 / Decarie)

Stampin Up Pun Fun & Sizzix Flip-it dies tips

I recently made this card for one of my stores that I sell to – it is such a fun card to make!!!

Using Stampin Up’s “Pun Fun” (now retired), I colored the rocket with water color pencils, fussy cut it then popped it up on the base. Using the stamp itself for revference, I hand drew all the little details in fine pointed black pen. Sentiment is from Paper Smooches.

The sizzix Flip-It die was sued to make the base & layers – I trimmed a second color (daffodil delight) down to fit.

**QUICK TIP ON HOW TO CORRECTLY USE THE SIZZIX FLIP-IT DIE**

Have you found that the die was cutting all the way through your card stock – or that the flip-it die cards were falling apart at the scored lines?! I did. It was heartbreaking to go through all the work to make the card just to have it fall apart. So I did some research:

  • Use ONE cutting plate and your CREASE pad!!!Β  Youtube video’s and other websites will tell you to use two standard cutting plates, but that second plate is what makes the difference.
    • Put your crease pad on the bottom, your Sizzix Flip-It die in the middle, then your card stock and your cutting plate on top.Β  That should fix any cutting through, or tearing of your scored folds.

Stampin Up with Lovely As A Tree

Did you know that Stampin Up’s “Lovely As A Tree” set has been around since 2006?!Β  Generally, sets are retired about every two years.Β  THIS set has made the cut year after year, and I can see why!!

Not only is it truly ‘lovely’, but it can be used for so many different occasions and holidays.Β  I can’t think of any other set in my craft room that is as versatile as this one.

I just received this set last week, and I knew I had to tinker with it!Β  Based off a tutorial by Dawn I used a piece of window sheet (clear acetate) to create this card:

Lovely As A Tree Reflection Technique

Lovely As A Tree Reflection Technique

Here is what I used to create this card:

    • Lovely As A Tree (Page 78, #127793 clear mount),

  • Ink:
    • Soft Suede (trees)
    • Old olive (‘grass’ area)
    • Marina Mist ((water / reflection area)
  • Card stock:
    • Crumb cake
    • Old olive
    • Chocolate chip
    • Naturals very vanilla (for inside panel)
  • Other tools:Β  Wood grain embossing folder, window sheets / clear acetate, linen thread, 1/16″ hole punch
